On Pitztal’s freshly groomed hiking trails through snow-covered forests. Move without much effort in the snowy winter landscape. Your path leads through forests and over snowfields, along frozen streams and watercourses, along trails and cross-country skiing tracks. In the depths of winter as in the warming spring sun, a real experience.
Here in Pitztal the winter is long, we have snow until the beginning of May, as long as you can ski, cross-country ski or snowboard here.
Because of its altitude, the Pitztal is also perfect for touring, the ultimate sport for those who want to find themselves and conquer the wild Pitztal winter landscape at their own pace during the day or at night.
Good for the circulation, blood pressure, muscles, but especially for the soul.
When touring you meet yourself, feel your own body, thoughts and feelings!
Ski tours on the roof of Tyrol:
- the majestic Wildspitze at 3774 m
- the demanding Linke Fernerkogel at 3225 m
- the K2 at 3135 m
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace and don’t necessarily need to go high, snowshoeing would be a great alternative.
Especially in the Kaunergrat Nature Park there are great circular hiking trails ideal for beginners (Possibly also with a guide). Snowshoeing makes the winter landscape seem like a fairy tale, through the slow pace you can experience a special experience with all your senses. Glistening snow, forests and meadows shrouded in white, sun rays in the red face and the sound of your own breath, just great!
The special tip: The route Piller Höhe – Kaunerberg , walking time approx. 1.5 hours
Or to the Tiefentalalm at 1880 m, through the forest, walking time approx. 3,5 hours

NO HUNTER’S TALK
This is a kind of law of nature – and you don’t need hunter’s lingo to understand it: Nature touches us the more, the less we touch it!
In the hunt for ever new impressions and experiences, one should never forget the basic virtues of a hunter – observing, being quiet, respecting nature and keeping an eye on the balance of life. Those who indulge in the passion of hunting will find a paradise in the Pitztal. But a wide “territory” also opens up in a figurative sense: gentle hikes, for example, lead into their own emotional worlds. Who follows fresh tracks, comes so seen the life on the track, the nature of things… and sees with a little luck deer, rabbits, squirrels. Or ibexes. On request, we are happy to arrange hunting permits or talk to the hunters if we may be present at the game feeding…

LEAFLET WINTER HIKING
THE 1X1 OF SNOWSHOEING:
Snowshoeing itself is easy to learn, you should have the snowshoes explained once, for example, when and how do I fix the snowshoes, how do I use the climbing aid and what is it for. Snowshoeing is quite strenuous and sufficient liquid, e.g. a thermos of tea and provisions should be taken along.
Furthermore, as with ski tours go: We are in high alpine terrain, for beginners we strongly recommend to stay on the marked winter trails.
For hikes off the marked trails we recommend a guided tour with a trained guide.
- Stay on marked paths
- Check your equipment and provisions
- do not go alone
- Keep an eye on the avalanche situation and weather forecast
Hiking poles, snowshoes, backpacks and thermos flask are available on loan here in the house.
